Why I love random people.

Posted in Unspecified

Oh, first off I'd just like to thank everyone who offered to help me change my design. That'd be... oh, NONE OF YOU. *mutter mutter*

I joined a penpals website a while ago, because I've missed writing letters to people since my penpal of 10 years stopped replying to me after we met up and didn't get along. Since I've joined I've gained two new penpals, Jenny and Natey, and I've spoken online to another half a dozen or more really interesting people.

I've also had several marriage proposals, mail from spambots, and a few downright weird messages from foreign users who's grasp of English is less than good. I really want to share these messages with you, just for the sheer giggly joy they've brought me:

This one's from a guy from Algeria:

"hi how do you do ??
you are very sweet, and your eyes like honey...."

...to which I replied:
"Thank you, but I think you need to throw your honey away. My eyes are blue, and I've never once in my life seen blue honey!"

His reply?:
"oky ..: (
I'm sorry that I said something I did not admire you..
I liked your photos only....

Do you want to pause ’’’?

I am talking honestly, I am talking honestly"

I have NO idea what he was trying to say, but I didn't reply. I didn't even know HOW to reply to that.

This one is from a Turkish fella:
"hi.Your face very beautifull.Especially sweet and sugar. I used to * to want meet with you.If you accept.I am waiting for your answer.Sympathetic girl......ı eat your eyes"

He eats my eyes?? I decided to not reply to that one at all. Some things are better left alone.

Aside from the occasional bizarre message, this site is a great place to make friends and gain penpals. If anyone is interested in writing letters, click here to see what I'm talking about!

I would help with a new blog design, except on..I have no frickin clue how LoL

I don't do letters much, emails yus, IM's yus, I even send packages, I just don't write letters.

sarai - 12:58 PM - August 18, 2008

When I start working again I'd like to send packages, but right now it's not really an option :P

Twist - 1:01 PM - August 18, 2008

I'd send letters if they were legible, but my handwriting unfortunately forbids :(

bebbet - 1:28 PM - August 18, 2008

I scrawl, I scrawl very badly :/

sarai - 1:44 PM - August 18, 2008

Your handwriting isn't that bad Bebs, I've never had trouble understanding it :)

Twist - 2:18 PM - August 18, 2008

It's not bad in short bursts or when I really take care with it, but writing for any length of time, it becomes increasingly scrawly.

bebbet - 2:27 PM - August 18, 2008

Mine gets round and spiky, and has funny letters that don't really look like letters at all. It's fun :D

Twist - 3:36 PM - August 18, 2008

After about five minutes, none of mine looks like letters. It's kinda like short-hand without any discernable pattern. I've no idea how I manage to read it.

bebbet - 4:02 PM - August 18, 2008

sounds like us bloggers have Dr's handwriting lol

sarai - 5:10 PM - August 18, 2008

Lol - I'd help with the new design, but I can't even figure out how to do mine!

Hmmm - eat your eyes? MAybe he thought they looked like honey, too :D

shadowrose - 6:10 PM - August 18, 2008

I eat your eyes.
Part of me hopes that he was saying, "I heart your eyes," but I doubt it.

I have neat handwriting. I'm just faster at typing emails that writing, finding a stamp, and then mailing the letter.

slayerbarbie - 6:19 PM - August 18, 2008

I have great handwriting, that is always legible, it just does some weird stuff sometimes. I've got a little box full of paper, envelopes, stamps and pens that I write my letters with, so I'm always prepared!

Twist - 8:35 PM - August 18, 2008

A few my friends have beautiful handwriting. I thought it was supposed to be a lost art to our generation.

Turns out I'm just crap with a pen :(

bebbet - 8:52 PM - August 18, 2008

Aw, bless your crappy pen-ness. If it makes you feel better I still have the note you put in with my Joker shirt (no, I haven't customised it yet!) and the V-day postcard you sent! Lol...

Twist - 9:54 PM - August 18, 2008

"Oh, first off I'd just like to thank everyone who offered to help me change my design. That'd be... oh, NONE OF YOU. *mutter mutter* "

:(

I spent a half-hour or so working on a background... I thought it'd be cool to have a bunch of scribbled "HA"s, "Hee"s, and "Ho"s on it. Then I was thinking about opacity, and what color to make it.. First was black on white, then I thought white on black to make it darker, then I was thinking about using purple, green, and red for Joker's colors.

I couldn't get the scribbles to look right, though, so I gave up assuming you must've already been done with your new design by then.

OgreJehosephatt - 10:16 PM - August 18, 2008

Heh, thanks Ogre, but I need help with the actual coding of things rather than the colour scheme and stuff. That's the one bit I -can- do!

Twist - 10:27 PM - August 18, 2008

I remember the postcard, but I can't remember what I wrote in the note.

I imagine it was short...

And I'd love to help with your layout, but you know more about it than I do.

bebbet - 10:56 PM - August 18, 2008

Yeah it was just a "Saw this and thought of you" kinda thing, but I keep stuff like that.

Twist - 9:54 AM - August 19, 2008

Hehe - you big (well, ickle) softie ;p

bebbet - 10:08 AM - August 19, 2008

Pfft, softie my arse. I like to keep notes. I'm a word-hoarder :P
Also in that box are notes from Tom (some of them not even love-letters!), Dante's address, a letter to a friend that I never posted, and sticky notes with various rhyming couplets on them. So don't feel too special ;)

Twist - 10:53 AM - August 19, 2008

My ego is shattered :(

bebbet - 11:11 AM - August 19, 2008

That would be fun! I have to admit, I'm pretty terrible at email though. I think I'd do better at actual letters. I used to do the penpal thing years and years ago.

By the way, you should have asked the dude about eye eating. I'm way curious here!

DeeJay - 1:05 AM - August 20, 2008

Aren't you afraid some convict is sitting in his cell and rubbing your letters all over his body?

grimfairy - 12:21 AM - August 26, 2008

As long as he writes me back, Grimmy, I don't mind all that much. I'm an open-minded kinda gal *wink*

Twist - 7:03 PM - August 26, 2008

Twisty is like Robin Hood, brings sexy back for the needy poor.. or prisoner in this case.

slayerbarbie - 7:43 PM - August 26, 2008

Does that mean I have to steal sexy from the rich first?

*lubes up*
